ISP investigating death of Carbondale mayor’s wife

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – The Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating the death of a southern Illinois mayor’s wife.  

According to Illinois State Police, 66-year-old Theresa Henry, wife of Carbondale Mayor John Henry was found dead in the evening hours of August 9.  

John Henry notified Carbondale Police Department (CPD) who responded to the scene, according to the Illinois State Police. Jackson County Ambulance Services Paramedics pronounced Theresa Henry dead.  

CPD requested Illinois State Police conduct an investigation into Theresa Henry’s death. 

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, August 12.  

The Jackson County Coroner’s Office and ISP Crime Scene Services are working together to investigate.  Once the investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office for review.
