Amherst town manager, UMass community strategist plan meeting, welcome public input

AMHERST – Town manager Paul Bockelman and University of Massachusetts Amherst’s executive director of community and strategic initiatives, Tony Maroulis, will discuss matters of mutual interest at Black Sheep Cafe, located downtown at 79 Main St. on Friday.

The public is invited to join their chat and ask questions duirng the session from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

In another community event slated for Saturday, the town will hold a community safety day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mill River Recreation Area, located at 95 Montague Road.

Members of the Police and Fire departments, along with Community Responders for Equity and Safety and the Senior Center, are organizing this event.

“We want to highlight how all three public safety branches are working together to support public safety, for residents of all ages. Events will include: Touch-A-Truck with the fire engine and cruisers, a K-9 demo, fire safety demos, Jaws of Life presentation, car seat inspections,” the town manager’s office said in a news release.

Officials from Northwestern District Attorney David Sullivan’s office will be on hand to discuss consumer safety and scam prevention.
