Charleston County Sheriff's Office officials say a man was arrested Wednesday after forcing his way into a family's home with a gun.
Deangelo Dontrel Brown, 28, was charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree assault and battery and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.
Police said they were dispatched to North Dallerton Circle around 7 a.m. for report of a home invasion.
Investigators determined Brown had attempted to carjack victims near a business in the Charleston Police Department's jurisdiction before fleeing to a neighborhood in CCSO's jurisdiction.
The suspect reportedly confronted a juvenile first, using a gun, before forcing his way into the home.
Deputies said the parents confronted the intruder- the father forcing him to drop the gun, and the mother taking it outside with the children.
The father was able to force the man into a room and went outside, where officers were reportedly on scene.
The suspect surrendered and was arrested after 8 a.m. He was transported to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries as well.
Two adults and four children were in the residence at the time, police said.
The father was treated for injuries on scene.
Brown was booked at the Al Cannon Detention Center. He is expected to have a bond hearing on Thursday.
