Baseball America just updated its Red Sox Top 30 prospect list and it ranked newcomers Enmanuel Valdez No. 16 and Wilyer Abreu No. 22.

The Red Sox acquired both Valdez and Abreu from the Houston Astros for catcher Christian Vázquez last Monday.

Valdez, a 23-year-old who plays multiple positions, is slashing .318/.403/.598/1.001 with 23 homers, 26 doubles, one triple, 83 RBIs and 71 runs in 88 games (44 games at Triple-A and 44 games at Double-A) this year. He has gone 3-for-19 with two homers so far for Triple-A Worcester.

The Red Sox assigned Abreu, a 23-year-old center fielder, to Double-A Portland where he has gone 3-for-19 with a double in six games so far. He’s slashing .244/.400/.445/.845 with 15 homers, 25 doubles, 55 RBIs and 85 runs in 95 games at Double-A this season.

Baseball America ranked 19-year-old shortstop Marcelo Mayer Boston’s No. 1 prospect — which is no surprise.

Mayer, the fourth overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft, posted a .286/.406/.504/.910 line with nine homers, 26 doubles, one triple, 40 RBIs and 46 runs in 66 games for Low-A Salem to start this season. Boston just promoted him to High-A Greenville on Monday.

Baseball America ranked righty Brayan Bello Boston’s No. 2 prospect, first baseman Triston Casas No. 3, center fielder/shortstop Ceddanne Rafaela No. 4 and second baseman Nick Yorke No. 5.

Rafaela made quite the leap after starting the season ranked No. 22 in the organization by BA. He has a .307/.354/.555/.909 line with 17 homers, 28 doubles, seven triples, 61 RBIs, 69 runs, 24 steals, 21 walks and 92 strikeouts in 89 games between High-A Greenville and Double-A Portland. He’s a plus defender at multiple positions, including shortstop and center field.

Center fielder Miguel Bleis (No. 6), righty Bryan Mata (No. 7), lefty Chris Murphy (No. 8), lefty Brandon Walter and corner infielder Blaze Jordan (No. 10) round out Boston’s top 10.

Mikey Romero, an 18-year-old shortstop who the Red Sox selected 24th overall in July, is ranked No. 12.

Cutter Coffey, an 18-year-old shortstop who the Red Sox selected in the second round (41st overall) this summer, is ranked No. 15. Roman Anthony, an 18-year-old outfielder Boston selected in the second round (79th overall), is ranked No. 21.
