Police make arrest in Burlington parking garage shooting incident
Police have arrested an Essex Junction man believed to be involved in a parking garage shooting in Burlington in June.
Burlington Police said they arrested Badal "Polo" Khadka, 19, on August 5. Khadka has been charged as the primary aggressor in a gunfire incident that took place during the early morning hours of June 18 in the Market Street Parking Garage.
Last month, detectives identified and cited another participant in the gunfire exchange, Kobe Loftus, 23, of Middlebury, for reckless endangerment.
Investigator says that Khadka initiated the shooting after he and his associates engaged in an argument with Loftus in the parking garage. Evidence indicated that Khadka fired first, with Loftus returning fire. No one was injured in the exchange.
Khadka was indicted on unrelated alleged crimes on Aug. 4 by a federal grand jury. He was arrested the following day.
He was released following an arraignment on Monday pending federal trial and then arrested again for the state charges related to the parking garage shooting incident.
Khadka was again released following his arraignment on the condition that he be supervised by an adult and is prohibited from buying or having dangerous weapons.
