Police: Woman dies after saving grandchildren from Brownsburg creek

BROWNSBURG, Ind. — A woman died Wednesday after saving her grandchildren from a creek in Brownsburg, according to police.

The incident happed around 5 p.m. at White Lick Creek.

The Brownsburg Police Department said two girls went into the creek to save a 3-month-old puppy. The girls began to struggle, and the grandmother went in after them. The grandmother saved the girls and made it back to the shore, police said.

She died after receiving CPR from bystanders and officers, per BPD.

Police added that it is believed the woman suffered some sort of medical event. The coroner will determine her official cause of death.
