Goodway Baptist Church's Education Ministry and Young People Ministry held their annual Back to School Program on Tuesday evening, August 1, at the church.

Special guests were Philadelphia school District school principals, Mr. Eiland and Mrs. Hancock, and guidance counselor, Eulisa Coburn.

The students enjoyed the program and were happy to receive a bag for school supplies from Mattie Hudson, State Farm agent, and a McDonald's gift card. The bags were filled with school supplies donated to the church for the program. The Pastor, Rev. W. C. Rush, was present to offer words of encouragement to all of the students for a good school year. The evening concluded with pizza!

Congratulations to Mike and Leah Stinson who celebrated their 45th Wedding Anniversary on July 23rd! I remember Leah taught Candler, my daughter, how to water ski so many years ago on the Tombigbee River when she was a little girl. She never forgot how and has always been so glad that Leah took the time to teach her! Leah has a business out of her home, "Leah's Kitchen", which offers wonderful baked goods and other delicious dishes.

Kindness multiplies and extends farther from its origin Valerie Jayroe Watkins put up a post about helping a friend with school supplies and clothing for her son.  Another friend, Linda Collier, told her to come by her store, D & L Men's Boutique..

Linda donated a brand new outfit for the child Valerie was helping!  It meant so much to Valerie. The store also gave away free school supplies to help our community. Every act of kindness is so important.
