Masks & More: Updated Covid-19 Guidelines for the Fall

CGU’s COVID-19 committee issued new campus guidelines this week as the university gets ready for the start of the 2022-23 academic year later this month.

Faculty and staff received the committee’s message; a similar message was sent to students by the Office of the Dean of Students.

While some things won’t change this fall–like the need for faculty, staff, and students to be fully vaccinated–indoor masking and daily health checks will no longer be required.

The change in policy regarding indoor masking is the result of the recent announcement by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health that it would not mandate wearing masks indoors. Since the pandemic’s beginning in 2020, the university’s campus policies have closely followed updated guidelines set down by the county.

More information about updated guidelines for the new academic year can be found on the CGU website.

CGU policies on mandatory masking and health checks are changing this fall.

The committee cautioned that, because the pandemic continues to change, any university guidelines are subject to change should the county issue a new set of updated guidelines.

“As everyone knows, the pandemic has proved to be an ongoing, fluid situation,” the message said. “Please keep in mind that the information outlined in this message is subject to change pending updates from the county’s public health department.”
