(KTTS News) – Police are investigating a suspicious package that caused a fire at a Cassville Post Office.

Police say the package caught fire on Tuesday morning.

Cassville Post Office staff threw the package outside and evacuated the building.

When officers arrived on the scene, there was no visible flames or smoke coming from the package. The smell of smoke was apparent in the post office.

The Springfield Fire Department responded to the scene and using an X-ray machine they were able to identify that matches were inside of the package.

Sergeant Donald Privett with the Cassville Police Department says that nobody was injured and there is no threat to the public.
