MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Stephanie Anderson has been named the 2022 Beth Pawlak Award winner by her Central Michigan softball teammates.

The Pawlak Award is the lone team award presented annually by CMU softball and is voted upon by team members. The award goes to the player whose leadership, hard work, and positive attitude serve as an inspiration to those she encounters both on the field and off.

The award is named in honor of former Chippewa Beth Pawlak, who died in a 1998 automobile accident during her junior season.

Anderson, a senior from Davis Junction, Ill., received the award after the 2020 season.

"Battling injury after injury she continued to stay positive, work hard and help Team 44 in any way she could," CMU coach McCall Salmon said. "She was a daily inspiration to her teammates and made everyone around her better."

Anderson appeared in 81 games, primarily as a pinch runner, during her CMU career, and scored 24 runs and stole four bases.

She is the second two-time winner in program history after Angie Hunter in 2004-05.
