Rapid City woman arrested for DUI, other charges, after crash

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City Police arrested a woman for DUI following a Tuesday crash.

When they arrived at the scene of the crash, officers learned from witnesses that a pickup truck was southbound on Lacrosse Street in front of a passenger vehicle, which was traveling at a high rate of speed. The passenger vehicle collided with the rear-end of the pickup truck and both vehicles came to a stop after the crash.

The female driver of the passenger car and two children exited the vehicle and began fleeing the scene. Police identified the woman as 36-year-old Angelita Rich of Rapid City.

The two children with her appeared to have injuries sustained in the crash and medical units arrived to provide aid.

Officers noticed signs of impairment when talking to Rich, and a Preliminary Breath Test was given which registered at nearly three times the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle at .229.

Safe arrangements were made for the children and Rich was placed under arrest for DUI, vehicular battery, hit and run with injuries, reckless driving, driving under suspension, no proof of insurance and two warrants.
