UPDATED 4:49 P.M.
PEORIA, Ill. – A juvenile has been arrested in connection with a recent armed robbery in Peoria.
That’s what Peoria Police says was the major development in another special enforcement detail that was part of Chief Eric Echevarria’s anti-violence initiative.
Police say just after 7 p.m. Tuesday, officers received information that the wanted juvenile was located on North Great Oak Road near Pottstown.
They arrested the juvenile only after he ran inside a nearby house.
The juvenile was wanted for Armed Robbery, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and Burglary.
He’s currently in juvenile custody — and was one twelve people arrested during the detail. In addition, police say 27 traffic stops were conducted, one handgun and illegal drugs were seized, and four vehicles were impounded.
The department says 35 officers participated in the detail.
“I would like to thank all of the officers who spend countless hours investigating and following up on cases that result in arrests,” said Echevarria, in a news release. “As I have stated before, our officers are committed to making Peoria a safer city for everyone. That is the goal of every police officer who wears a badge.”
