KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
Last week, voters in Kansas approved a ballot measure protecting abortion rights in the first state vote since Roe vs. Wade was overturned earlier this summer.

In his visit to Kirksville on Tuesday, Gov. Mike Parson made it clear that Missouri will not be following Kansas.
"I think moving forward, this is exactly where we're going to be," Gov. Parson said. "This is a pro-life state, and we're going to continue to support that, and make sure that we can do the things we need to do, and take care of the emergency situation, and we've spoken about that, and we're going to move forward the same way that we've been moving forward."

Missouri's abortion law is considered one of the strictest in the country, and offenders face anywhere from 5 to 15 years in prison.
