Searchers find remains thought to be missing White County man

By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio

The search for a missing person in White County is apparently over after the discovery Wednesday of human remains.

Search efforts were conducted Wednesday in the area of Rose Road and 75 Alternate, north of Cleveland, for a missing person identified by the White County Sheriff’s office as Heath Williams.

A social media post Wednesday afternoon from the sheriff’s office said after a long and exhaustive multi-agency search, the remains of a male, believed to be Heath Williams, have been recovered.

A news release from the sheriff's office says the remains were recovered in a heavily-wooded location in the northern part of the county.

The deceased has been taken for an autopsy to learn the positive identification.

No foul play is suspected at this time and the sheriff’s office said while officials must await the official identification of the individual, they ask that people respect the privacy of the family during this difficult time.

Williams had been missing since late July and was last seen in the area of Rose Road and 75 Alternate near Mountain Lakes Resort.
