State Fair Traffic Pattern Changes Take Effect Thursday Morning

The annual change in traffic patterns around the Illinois State Fairgrounds takes effect Thursday morning.

Starting at 5am, all traffic around the fairgrounds will be one-way, counterclockwise. In addition, both eastbound and westbound turn lanes at Eighth Street and Veterans Parkway will be closed. Signage and cones will be up to direct traffic. The changes will remain in effect until Monday, August 22nd, following the conclusion of the fair. In addition, the route of the fair’s Twilight Parade from Lincoln Park to the Main Gate will be closed to traffic Thursday from 4 to 9pm, with detour signs posted at North Grand, Veterans, and J. David Jones Parkway.

Finally, parking restrictions will be in effect, with no parking allowed on residential streets south of Sangamon Avenue near the fairgrounds during the run of the fair.
