WARNER ROBINS, Ga. (WGXA) -- Congratulations to Emma Adcock of David Perdue Primary School for her big win in the 2021-2022 K-2 National School Bus Safety Poster Contest!
The contest, sponsored by the American School Bus Council, was themed "1 Bus + 1 Driver = A Big Impact on Education," reflecting that school buses and their drivers are symbols of education within the community.
“I wish to congratulate these four students and thank them for representing the state of Georgia so well on the national level – and for drawing attention to the important issue of school bus safety,” State School Superintendent Woods said. “Each day, Georgia’s school transportation employees work hard to ensure students’ safety as they travel to and from school – as Georgians, we can all partner together to ensure all students are safe on the road.”
The posters were judged based on safety impact, artistic quality and visual impact and voted for one winner from each of the five divisions and those divisions included posters submitted by students from 15 different states.
Emma was one of four winners from Georgia, along with Jada Fitzgerald of Worth County Elementary, Claire Hwang of Northbrook Middle School in Gwinnett County and Kamil Samnani of Hull Middle School, also in Gwinnett.
The artwork created for the contest becomes the theme for National School Bus Safety Week, an annual event held in October. The contest for the 2022-2023 school year begins on August 15, 2022, and runs until March 31, 2023.
