Gore, 39, a 16-year NFL veteran and the San Francisco 49ers’ all-time leading rusher and third overall in NFL history, was arrested July 31 by Atlantic City police, according to a news release.

According to KRON-TV, police responded to a domestic violence dispute report on July 31 at Tropicana Atlantic City. A 28-year-old woman from Miami, who was not identified in the report, was speaking to hotel security, the television station reported.

The Florida native, who played three seasons at the University of Miami, was charged with simple assault related to a “domestic violence incident,” police said.

The woman showed no signs of injury and a complaint was not filed at the time. However, police arrested Gore after an investigation and charged him with assault, according to the news release.

Gore, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, played 10 seasons with the 49ers, appearing with San Francisco in Super Bowl XLVII in February 2013. He also played for the Indianapolis Colts, the Miami Dolphins, the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets, rushing for 16,000 yards before his retirement in 2020, according to Pro-Football-Reference.com.

Gore has a court appearance scheduled for Oct. 17 at 1:30 p.m. in the Atlantic City Municipal Court, according to KRON.
