The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) announced a second arrest Wednesday stemming from an investigation after a shooting at a local restaurant last month.
Timothy Powell, 39, was arrested August 5 on a warrant for first-degree assault. The arrest was made less than a week after another suspect, 24-year-old Corey Lewis, was arrested in connection to the same shooting.
On July 27, the Tuscaloosa Police Department responded to the Spades Restaurant and Lounge on a call of a shooting. Officers found a single victim, who policed described as an innocent bystander, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to DCH.
Police said there was an altercation between two groups of people inside the restaurant. One of those groups went outside and armed themselves before firing multiple rounds at the other group. The victim was not involved in the altercation.
Powell, who has a history of arrests for multiple firearms offenses, was located in Tuscaloosa County by the US Marshall's Task Force and arrested on August 5. Police said a substantial amount of illegal narcotics was found with him during his arrest. He was also found in possession numerous firearms and was charged with additional drug and firearm offenses by agents with the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force.
Police also said Powell's release was revoked on a previous Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substance charge, and he is being held with no bond on that case.
Lewis was arrested July 29 and was released on a $60,000 bond.
