VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – School superintendents are taking a few calls following the decision by the Fargo Public School Board to stop reciting the Pledge of Allegiance before their future school board meetings.

Valley City Public Schools superintendent Josh Johnson has received several calls from local patrons inquiring about the district’s position on the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance prior to school board meetings. According to Johnson, “The Valley City Public School Board has been reciting the pledge of allegiance prior to school board meetings for the past six years and will be continuing this practice during the 2022-2023 school year. The board often involves students in leading the pledge of allegiance as part of their monthly student recognition program.”

Valley City Public School Board president Ryan Mathias has this response.
