Leroy D. Collier, 92 of Canton, Missouri, died August 7, 2022 at the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton.

The son of Irvin and Anna Gassen Collier was born on August 24, 1929 at Higginsville, Missouri.

He was united in marriage to Mary C. Suppenbach on November 25, 1949 at Kansas City, Missouri. She preceded him in death on October 18, 2018.

Leroy served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 11th Airborne Paratroop Division. He and his wife owned and operated the Pacific Café in Sedalia, Mo., Boots and Blue Denim and the Canton Antique Avenue both in Canton, Mo. He also retired from Peter's Heating and Air Conditioning. He served as Mayor of Canton from May of 1995 until April of 1996. He was a licensed pilot and liked to fly. He enjoyed water skiing and dance skating with his wife. He also enjoyed watching bald eagles and television. He loved his dogs.

He is survived by his sons, Greg Collier, D.C. of Canton, Mo. and Kirk D.L. Collier of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, Karen (Daniel) Muntz of Sedalia, Mo., Mary Joy (Brian) Dawson of Mountain View, Mo., Dane (Ludmylla) Collier, Ashley Collier and Alexis Collier; great grandchildren, Jake Muntz, Allison Dawson and Elena Collier; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter in law, Susan Collier and four sisters, Esther, Loretta, Anna and Shirley.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton, Missouri with Pastor Dan Steinbeck officiating.

Memorials may be made to the City of Canton designated for the Veterans Park Memorial Installation.
