BUCYRUS—Three area girls are vying for the title of the Bucyrus Bratwurst Queen. This year’s pageant will take place on Thursday at 8 PM, following the first parade of the three-day festival.

Contestant number one is Abbigail Martin:

Abbigail is the daughter of Todd and Heather Martin. She is the youngest of three. This fall, Abbigail will be a senior at Colonel Crawford High School and participates in College Credit Plus courses through NC State College.

Abby participates in several organizations and clubs in school, including student council, Young Life, LEO Club, National Honor Society, Swim, and Volleyball. She is also a leadership conference ambassador for her school. She is a member of Bucyrus First Church of Nazarene. She partakes in volunteer opportunities in Young Life and the LEO club. Right now, Abbigail is undecided about her future plans but is exploring options. She would like to attend college but says, “Wherever the Lord leads me is where I’ll go.”

Abbigail has many activities that she finds interesting, but some of her favorites include drawing because it allows her to be creative, painting because it lets her show her ideas in a different medium, and swimming because it allows her to feel at home and at peace.

Her favorite place she has traveled to is Panama City Beach, Florida, because she feels calm and happy at the beach, the water is warm, loves the sand, and it is a beautiful place to be.

Abby believes the qualities essential for a Queen and her court include being compassionate, kind, confident, charismatic, friendly, and humble.

Abbigail would like to become the Bratwurst Festival Queen because it has been her dream since she was a little girl. She loves the city of Bucyrus and wants to have the chance to represent the city through the festival. The Bratwurst Festival has brought Abby happiness and increased her respect for Bucyrus itself.

She would love the chance to make connections and friendships with others while also sharing about how great the Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival is.

Contestant number two is Hannah Feldman:

Hannah is the daughter of Chad and Anny Gebhardt. She is a sibling of Brooklyn, Zoltan, Alison, and Declan. Hannah recently graduated from Wynford High School and participated in football and basketball, cheerleading, track, FFA, Young Life, Interact club, and musicals. She is a member of St. Johns Baseline UCC. She volunteers as a 4-H camp counselor.

This fall, Hannah will be attending Defiance College to major in business and minor in entrepreneurship. After college, she would like to attend cosmetology school to get her license and open her own hair salon and coffee shop.
Some of Hannah’s favorite hobbies include photography, baking, and cosmetology because each comes naturally to her and is very relaxing.

Her favorite place she has traveled is Universal Studios, Florida, because it was for being named a UCA All-American Cheerleader, and she was able to meet so many people and spend time with her mom.

Hannah believes the qualities essential for a Queen and her court are being a good public speaker, a natural-born leader, have a love for little kids, and displaying hard work. Hannah wants to become the Bratwurst Festival Queen because it has been a dream of hers since she was little. It became a tradition to watch the Queens contest every year with her family. Growing up and knowing that she has German heritage made her want to run in the pageant even more. Being the Bratwurst Festival Queen would give Hannah the chance to travel Ohio, representing a festival that she has grown up loving with her whole heart, meet new people, and share more with people about the Bratwurst capital of America. Being the Queen would allow Hannah to talk to more people and continue to grow as a young woman in our community. Overall, Hannah becoming the Bratwurst Festival Queen as a dream come true would be a dream come true for Hannah.
