Professional women's lacrosse takes foothold in Sparks, showing nothing but promise
It has been a long time coming, but professional women's lacrosse finally has a foothold, and the future shows nothing but promise.
Professional women's lacrosse is marching full steam ahead thanks to Athletes Unlimited, and now they've reached championship weekend in Baltimore County. The games are played Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

All games during the four-week season will be played at the USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks. The teams will change every week, and players earn some points for individual stats, but even more for team success. The top four scorers each week are captains and get to pick a new team.
Kady Glynn, who starred at Loyola University Maryland, relishes the chance to continue her career.
"To be able to play again in a format like this, with players like this at the highest caliber, the highest skill, it just means the world to me. And, like, I'm so grateful to be here and play again because it's the sport I love," Glynn said.
The games were played last year in Germantown with what were described as "friends and family crowds." But being close to lacrosse culture in Baltimore County, fans have flocked to the games, leading to a great atmosphere.
Sam Apuzzo, a Tewaaraton Trophy winner from Boston College, marvels at the quality on display.
"The eliteness of the play has grown from last year to this year so much. It's been really fun to play with new players, play with the younger girls, but see that change that everyone has transitioned from this year to last year," Apuzzo said. "To be able to have this league and be so supported by, not just Athletes Unlimited, but everyone around -- (USA) Lacrosse, everything -- we've gained so much success and so much support the last two years I can only see it going up from here."
Things have gone so well this season, they've already booked next season to return to the USA Lacrosse headquarters.
