Today’s NBA aren’t true professional by definition of what and how athletes are supposed to conduct themselves. They want these absurd monetary contracts then decide they don’t want to play for the organization they signed the contract with. If I’m a NBA owner and I pay a player above their value, I’m not letting that player dictate policy or give me ultimatums! I certainly wouldn’t trade him, but I would fine him for breach of contract and failure to perform if he’s malingering or deliberately causing the team to fail and not win games, including fining him if they don’t make the playoffs. I’ll either make that player extremely uncomfortable, or fine him until I get a significant amount of money back, until he starts playing to win and represent the franchise respectively.

stop bringing up Boston. Stop bringing up Jaylen Brown's name. Durant is about to turn 34. The Celtics don't need him

For a guy that cares so much about how he is viewed, he sure doesn’t do himself favors. He hasn’t even tried with the nets and expects them to blow it up. Dude got paid 45 million an entire year where he was as valuable as me for the team
