Police search for people vandalizing, robbing ATMs

HAYSI, Va. — Police are searching for the people responsible for destroying two bank ATMs in southwestern Virginia.

The first instance happened around 1 a.m., July 30, at New Peoples Bank on Main Street in Haysi. That ATM was destroyed, but no cash was taken.



The culprits struck again on August 8, this time around 2 a.m., at the New Peoples Bank on Anchorage in Grundy. In that case, the ATM was destroyed and robbed of its cash.

Police believe the same three people are responsible for both incidents.

They are looking for a dark-colored Toyota Camry with Florida plates which is believed to have been involved in the Haysi incident. A Ford F-250 is also believed to have been used in both incidents.
