Snoop Dogg and Steph Curry Unveil Renovated Basketball Court in Long Beach

Long Beach, CA – Long Beach native and rap legend Snoop Dogg was joined by Golden State Warriors and NBA Finals MVP Stephen Curry at the Boys & Girls Club of Long Beach to unveil a newly renovated basketball court on Tuesday.

The court, located at the Martin Luther King Jr. Park facility, was given a much needed upgrade with a design by comic book artist Damion Scott; and both Snoop and Curry surprised the children in attendance during the reveal, and provided custom merchandise and inspirational speeches about the importance of community.

More than 70 children in attendance were given the opportunity to participate in drills with the basketball star and rapper on the brand new hardwood court. The renovation comes through a partnership with both stars and the Curry Brand powered by Under Armour, which has a mission to impact 100,000 youth and renovate 20 safe places to play by 2025.

In a statement released by Under Armour, Snoop said: “This is the place where I learned how to play basketball, play football, be active in the community, and build relationships. It’s where I learned how to rap, talk, and just be me basically – in this park right here.”

Steph and Snoop partner to give back to low-income communities through youth sports.

“Since the launch of Curry Brand in 2020, Stephen and Snoop have been ideating ways they could collaborate and combine their shared passion for providing access to youth sports. Over the past two years, they remained close as they brought their vision to life, utilizing their collective platforms to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others”, the news release continues.

As much as giving back to the Long Beach community means to Snoop, Curry was also excited to be able to contribute to the next generation of basketball players.

“We want to provide a space where you can come enjoy yourself and get lost in the fun, lost in the competition, invest in yourselves, and be around a lot of amazing coaches and programs,” Curry said while addressing the kids.

He continued, “This is the beginning of hopefully an amazing journey, not just in sports but in life. Sports teach you so much about life and building great character, being a part of teams, and believing in yourself. We want to be able to provide that for you guys through Curry brand, and we’re really excited about that.”

Local Boys & Girls Club officials say the refurbished court will serve thousands of kids from the local club and other organizations including Long Beach Parks and Recreation and the Snoop Youth Basketball League.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach facility has served the local community for over 40 years, with about 200 kids utilizing the grounds and programming every week.
