Paul Mladenka

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – In 2009, a restaurant came to Port Allen and proceeded to make itself a staple in the community.

Cou-yon’s landed at N Alexander Ave. on July 20 of that year and since then has served up barbeque, seafood and more.

Cou-yon’s owners and brothers Paul and Michael Mladenka have collectively been in the restaurant business for 47 years. Now, the local duo has decided to branch out and open another restaurant.

The new restaurant will be opening on the other side of the river and it is called Cork’s – Cajun Fried Fish & Shrimp.

So where is the new restaurant going to be located in Baton Rouge?

Cork’s – Cajun Fried Fish & Shrimp is going to be located at 5131 Government Street near the corner of Government Street and S. Foster Drive in the empty Captain D’s building next door to the Shell station.

What kind of food and drink can the public expect to try in Cork’s – Cajun Fried Fish & Shrimp?

The owners say there will be lots to choose from, including:

Cork’s – Cajun Fried Fish & Shrimp is going to offer customers the chance to sit down, take out, drive-thru or order online.

So why open a new restaurant in East Baton Rouge Parish?

Paul says, “The idea for Cork’s was stemmed by the lack of a really good quality fried fish and shrimp product in a quick service environment.”

The Cou-yon’s co-owner believes that it has become harder and harder to find quality seafood in a fast-casual environment.

So when can the public expect to try out the new restaurant on Government Street?

According to Paul, Cork’s – Cajun Fried Fish & Shrimp should be opening sometime in November of this year.

Cork’s – Cajun Fried Fish & Shrimp will be open every day of the week from 11 am. until 9 p.m.
