Pike Road students return to school on Aug. 10 with Mayor Gordon Stone at elementary school

Students returned to Pike Road City Schools early Wednesday morning, with some of the young students walking hand-in-hand with one another.

Pike Road Mayor Gordon Stone was at the elementary school to welcome students back.

Mateo Hidalgo smiled for the camera as he hopped out of his family's car at the elementary school. Like Mateo, many of the students came dressed for the day in bright colors.

The students were prepared for the day with school supplies sticking out of their backpacks.
