Robert Weir Ives, proud veteran

Robert Weir Ives, 90, of Dover, passed away Friday, Aug. 5, 2022.

Robert was born April 8, 1932, in Philadelphia, Pa. He proudly served his country in the Korean War Conflict and was awarded the Bronze Star for acts of valor.

Robert and Frances were married in April 1956 and went on to have four beautiful children. The family started their international adventures which took them around the world: Germany, Canada, Mexico, France, Scotland, Italy and the Philippines were all home before settling at the beloved beach house in Lewes. Their loving home and environment created beautiful memories that will be forever cherished by all.

Family was everything to Robert. He selflessly dedicated himself to his wife and family, and made all of our lives better just by being in them.

Robert is preceded in death by his loving wife Frances; and his parents John Bradford and Margaret Mary Ives. He is survived by his children, Catherine (Jake), Roberta, Jay and Patrick (Jamie); grandchildren, Nicole, Jessee, Shannon, Tyler, Brandon, Robbie, Dylan and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Nolan, McKenna, Emma, Jaxon, Weston, Olivia and Morgan (Poppy); his sister, Mary Ellen (David); nephew, Arthur; and nieces, Lydia, Patricia, Margaret, Janet and Marion.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Korean War Veterans Association.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Holy Cross Church in Dover. Interment with honors was in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
