GRAND FORKS — A pair of former UND hockey legends will return to Grand Forks this season to skate 'One More Shift' in Ralph Engelstad Arena.
Hall of Fame goaltender Ed Belfour and two-time Stanley Cup champion Matt Greene will participate in the event.
The players will be introduced during pregame lineup announcements and will skate a couple of laps in the zone. Then, they'll join the current players on the blue line for the national anthem.
Belfour's event will occur on Friday, Nov. 18 before a game against Miami.
It was originally scheduled for last season, but because of potential COVID-19 travel restrictions that could prevent some family and friends from attending, UND and Belfour opted to back it up to this season.

Greene's event will occur on Saturday, Jan. 21 before a game against Minnesota Duluth.
Belfour and Greene were both standouts at UND, who went on to lengthy NHL careers while staying closely tied to the program. Both won Stanley Cups and brought the prize back to Grand Forks during their allotted day with it.
Belfour, who was undrafted, played 963 NHL regular-season games with the Chicago Blackhawks, San Jose Sharks, Dallas Stars, Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers. He won the Stanley Cup in 1999 with Dallas and won Olympic gold in 2002 with Canada.
Belfour has been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame and the UND Athletics Hall of Fame. He is the only UND player currently in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.
Greene, a second-round draft pick, played 615 regular-season NHL games with the Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings. He served as an alternate captain with the Kings and won Cups in 2012 and 2014.
Greene currently works in player development with the Kings.
Three former UND players have participated in the 'One More Shift' promotion — Jim Archibald, Brandon Bochenski and Dave Christian.
Archibald was the first to do it in November 2018. Following Archibald's shift, UND scored just 3 minutes, 29 seconds into the game and went on to beat Wisconsin 5-0.

Bochenski's shift came last October against Niagara. UND scored just 69 seconds into that game and won 4-0.
Christian's shift came last November against rival Minnesota. UND scored 3:27 into that game and the Fighting Hawks won 3-2.
UND's single-season tickets are set to go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday through Ticketmaster or the Ralph Engelstad Arena box office. For National Collegiate Hockey Conference games, tickets are $39 for Friday night and $49 for Saturday. For nonconference and exhibition games, prices are $25 for adults and $15 for youth.
The Fighting Hawks open with an exhibition game against the University of Manitoba on Oct. 1. The regular-season opener is set for Oct. 7-8 against Holy Cross in Ralph Engelstad Arena.
UND has won three-straight Penrose Cups as NCHC regular-season champions.
