Akron Zoo announces free community days for Summit County residents

Instead of a single day for just one Summit County community at a time, the Akron Zoo is offering free admission for county residents the entire month of September.

But this doesn't mean Summit County residents can simply stroll up to the ticket booth for free admission.

Residents will be required to make reservations.

The Akron Zoo's snow leopard Baya keeps an eye on visitors Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020, in Akron, Ohio.

The taxpayer-supported zoo says offering a free day is simply a way to say thanks to the various communities.

In the past, the zoo offered free days to residents on specified dates depending on where they live.

Limited number of tickets available each day, reserve them online

The zoo warns the number of tickets available each day in September are limited and will likely run out.

More:The zoo has partnered with ScooterPals Fur-Wheelers to offer a new attraction.

Households within Summit County are limited to four tickets per address and a service charge will be applied to each order.

To help offset the service charge, the zoo is waiving its $3 parking fee to those Summit County Day ticketholders.

To reserve a ticket, you must visit the zoo's website at https://www.akronzoo.org/community-days.

More:The zoo has added a new virtually reality experience that will take guests on a trek under the seas.

If you do not have an online account with the zoo, you will have to create one in order to reserve your tickets for a specific date.

Zoo officials say reservations for a specific date cannot be changed once the order is finalized. Be sure to check other dates for ticket availability if your first choice is already booked up.
