by | Aug 10, 2022 | Police and Fire

From Prince William Fire and Rescue:

Wednesday morning units were dispatched to the 5000 blk of Roundtree Drive (Dale City) for a report of a single-family dwelling house fire. Crews arrived with fire and smoke showing from the front of the home. All occupants had safety evacuated.
The fire was discovered by the occupants prior to the smoke detectors activating. It was determined the bulk of the fire was in the basement and control and extinguishment quickly followed. No injuries were reported. The home sustained extensive damage and the Building Official declared the structure unsafe to occupy. The American Red Cross is on the scene to assist the 7 adults and 1 child displaced by the fire. The Fire Marshal’s Office is still on the scene determining the cause of the blaze.
The Fire Marshal’s Office strongly recommends the installation, maintenance, and regular testing of smoke detectors in all residential properties. A working smoke detector provides adequate warning allowing you to safely escape the dangers of a fire.
