Colleen Redpath Feger, who has been the deputy treasurer for the city for the last four years, is running for treasurer in 2023.

Redpath Feger's announcement comes on the heels of Treasurer Misty Buscher's announcement on July 15 that she is challenging incumbent Mayor Jim Langfelder.

A native of Springfield's north end, Redpath Feger has worked for the city since 2003. She is the daughter Ward 1 Ald. Chuck Redpath.

There are no other announced candidates for the position so far.

“My roots in Springfield run deep," Redpath Feger said in her announcement. "Growing up on Springfield’s north end, I learned the values of hard work and accountability. Those values have instilled in me a passion for public service.

"I am not running for the title or fame. I am running to serve the people of Springfield and our community. I am confident that with my work ethic and background I can help the city move forward."

Redpath Feger worked in the banking industry in Springfield for several years before starting with the city as an account technician working in the data information systems department at City Water, Light and Power. She replaced Tammie McCaughey as deputy treasurer.

Redpath Feger is a graduate of Ursuline Academy and earned her associate degree at Lincoln Land Community College.

Redpath Feger's husband, Josh Feger, is a supervisor at CWLP, and her brother, Chuck Redpath Jr., is a Springfield Police detective.

She and her husband have two children, Emma and Evin.

Buscher is the only announced candidate against Langfelder, who is seeking a third term as mayor.

City elections are nonpartisan. The filing period is Nov. 21-28. If there are more than four candidates for a single office, a primary will be held Feb. 28 in advance of the April 4 consolidated general election.
