The Fishtown food scene continues to grow.  If you’re looking for more Italian food options in the area, you’re in luck. The Tulip Pasta + Wine Bar (2302 E. Norris St.) is scheduled to open late summer and will feature, freshly made pasta and locally sourced wine.

Chefs Jason Cichonski and Alexander Beninato partnered with WAYVINE winery & vineyard for the concept. “Jason Cichonski had been talking with the Wilson brothers out at WAYVINE about doing a collaborative restaurant featuring their wine for a while. When the 2302 E. Norris space became available Jason and I began talking about bringing my style of PA Italian food into the mix and things just clicked,” states Alexander.

The space will seat 40 inside with some outdoor seating as well.  Items will include dishes such as charcoal-roasted beet ravioli with hibiscus and sumac butter, cacio e peperoncini made with mild blend and dried pickled peppers. as well as several other pasta choices.  “Italian restaurants are where I began in this industry. Then I took a hard detour through very fine dining restaurants, most notably Blue Hill at Stone Barns and Laurel, but I always knew I wanted to return to Italian food. During the pandemic I started doing my Philly Milled pop-ups which featured pasta in many different varieties fresh milled from local PA grains. I knew that pasta was going to be a main fixture in whatever venture I did next,” adds Chef Beninato.

Alexander’s partner Chef Cichonski is also a veteran in the restaurant scene which includes being former co-owner of Ela’s as well as current operations at  Little Noodle Pasta Co., Attico Rooftop, and Messina Social Club.

As for the wine, all wine is 100% estate grown at WAYVINE located in Nottingham, PA.  The winery specializes in dry, low intervention wines. “Our goal is to produce a quality product that truly represents Pennsylvania’s terrior. Our wines are lightly filtered if filtered at all, so a little sediment is harmless and expected.,” WAYVINE states. The hours of operation for Tulip Pasta + Wine Bar  have not been finalized as of yet.
