Joseph and Patty were previously partners in the business from 2003 until 2010.
โPatty and I have been close friends for many years, so I knew she wanted to "semi-retire" in order to spend less time running the back-office part of the business and more time focusing on planning trips for her many travel customers," Eason said. โSince I was previously a partner in Burns Travel for many years and had recently sold my ownership of an IT company, I was interested in getting get back into the travel business. I asked Patty if she would consider selling the company and remain a part of the new business as a travel agent. After some thought, Patty said she felt this would be a perfect fit for both of us, so we were able to complete the purchase in early August.โ
"I am very happy it worked out where Patty would continue to sell travel for the company, along with Kaynun Lee who has been with the agency for 12 years and also Yvette Carr who has served for nearly 20 years," Joseph said. According to Patty, she is thrilled to be working with Joseph again.
"I feel this change will address my need to slow down a bit as well as help guarantee Statesboro will have a local travel company to serve the needs of our community and surrounding areas for many years to come. As the future of the travel business becomes more internet based, I am also excited about the opportunity for technology improvements Joseph can bring to the business.โ Patty said.
The Statesboro-based agency began in 1976 when Patty and her husband bought Ogeechee Travel on East Main Street. In 1985 the name was changed to Burns World Travel. The business has been an institution in the Statesboro business community for many years, providing customers an opportunity to experience all types of travel.
