Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) and Veterans Memorial Hospital have teamed up to provide a day for 6th-8th graders to explore the many health care careers that are available to them. The event will be held Wednesday, September 14, which is a teacher in-service day with no school. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.

All attending will be visiting numerous health care departments around the hospital and hearing from staff in those roles. They will share their education, job duties and what they do during a typical day in their work life, all in an effort to introduce more youth to the vast career opportunities in health care.

Corinne Cook, RN, will be the class instructor. This class is held free of charge and a lunch will be served. All those attending should enter the hospital through the ICN entrance located at the southeast side of the hospital along the golf course.
