A man was shot just yards from Lincoln Oval Park, the second shooting in as many days.

Patrol officers rushed around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday after reports of a man being shot in the 1400 block of North Bridge Street. The man, whose age, identity and condition have not been released, was rushed to the hospital.

Violent Crimes Unit detectives were called to take over the investigation, Sgt. Bill Diltz said. The crime lab scoured the area for clues and evidence. Police are hoping to use surveillance cameras posted on nearby businesses.

Detectives are asking any witnesses to come forward. No arrests have been made and no motive was released by police.

The Tuesday evening shooting follows a deadly shooting at the East Visalia ARCO gas station. Police have not said if the cases are linked.

Visalia detectives are now searching for the shooter or anyone who can identify the shooter.

Around 1:34 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to the ARCO gas station on Lovers Lane for reports of gunshots fired outside of the business.

When officers arrived, they checked the area and found the body of Alfonso Barrera, 30, in a nearby neighborhood. It's unclear how close the victim was to the business or if the gunfire led to his death.

Violent Crimes Unit detectives were called to the scene to start an investigation. Detectives canvassed the neighborhood to collect evidence and interview any witnesses.

A motive in this case also remains unclear.
