Mississippi State football's Randy Charlton doing 'well' after helmet-to-helmet injury
STARKVILLE — Mississippi State football defensive end Randy Charlton is doing "well" after a helmet-to-helmet hit during a drill in Monday's practice, a source told the Clarion Ledger. The source requested anonymity because no official announcement has been made.
Trainers tended to Charlton before he was carted off MSU's practice fields on a stretcher and into an ambulance. He did not return to practice Tuesday. Charlton has been sidelined as a precautionary measure by doctors and head athletic trainer Thomas Callans, the source said.
Charlton is entering his second season at Mississippi State after transferring from UCF after three seasons.

He started 11 of 12 games for the Bulldogs last season and recorded four sacks and 35 tackles. Charlton, whose role elevated last season after defensive end Jordan Davis went down with a season-ending knee injury in an August scrimmage, was tied for sixth on the team with five tackles for loss.
Charlton is a Miami native who attended Miami Southridge High School. He was a three-star prospect, according to the 247Sports composite.
