PROVO — Utah-based Breeze Airways is already looking to expand operations at Provo Airport after taking off for the first time last week.
David Neeleman, the company's founder, announced Wednesday that the low-cost airline will begin nonstop to Phoenix and one-stop service to Charleston, South Carolina, beginning on Nov. 2. That is the same day as the previously announced daily nonstop service to Los Angeles will also begin.
One-way flights to Phoenix will range in cost between $29 and $79, while flights to Charleston will cost between $99 and $199 one-way, according to the company. The flights to South Carolina are scheduled for every day of the week aside from Tuesdays. Though there is a stop required, company officials said there won't be a change of plane service.
Breeze Airways, a Salt Lake City-based company that was cleared to take off last year after it was first announced in 2019, began Utah service last week with inaugural flights to San Bernardino and San Francisco in California. It's a low-cost carrier that focuses on service within "underserved city pairs," according to Tom Doxey, the president of the company.
The airline is scheduled to begin nonstop service to Las Vegas beginning on Oct. 5 in addition to the three service locations scheduled for Nov. 2.
The airline's officials also said Wednesday that it has ordered 80 new Airbus aircraft, which will be delivered one per month over the next six years. The deal includes an option for up to 40 more planes as it expands service across the country. The airline currently offers 87 nonstop routes between 30 cities in 18 states.
