With all precincts reporting, Hastings residents picked the City Council candidates who will appear in the Nov. 8 general election.
There were two City Council at-large seats on the ballot, of which there were six candidates in the running. For those council seats, 5,664 residents voted, and Angie Haus, Ian T. Martin, Tom Wright and Dave Pemble will be moving on to the general election as the top four candidates.
Haus received the most votes, garnering 1,055, or 18.62% of the votes. Martin received the second most votes, coming in at 967, which was followed closely by Wright’s 964. Pemble rounded out the top four candidates with 898, or 15.85% of the vote.
Another contest to keep an eye on is the race for Dakota County attorney, another nonpartisan position. Incumbent Kathy Keena and challenger Matt Little will be moving on to the general election. Keena, who has served as the county attorney since February 2021, received 30% of the vote and was slightly edged out by Little’s 33.43%.
The general election is set for Nov. 8. Absentee voting opens on Sept. 23.
