GUN PLAIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — At least one person is dead in a crash involving a pedestrian in Allegan County Wednesday morning.
Michigan State Police says the crash took place near Marsh and Pierce roads in Gun Plain Township.
An SUV was heading down Marsh Road, says MSP, when the driver hit a woman who was walking across the roadway to check her mailbox.
MSP says the woman was found dead on scene. She has been identified as Roberta Sites, a 70-year-old woman from Gun Plain Township.
The driver of the SUV, a 37-year-old woman from Shelbyville, was not injured.
The crash resulted in a road closure until around 4:30 p.m.

MSP is still investigating the matter, saying that there is no additional information to follow.
