LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. (WJLA) —
A rare "rainbow cloud" was spotted over Loudoun County, Virginia, before Tuesday's storms rolled into the region.

Michael Siuta sent WJLA the stunning photos.
Siuta said he and his wife spotted the "natural phenomenon" from their back deck in Beacon Hill just west of Leesburg.

We called them 'rainbow clouds' but we understand they are also called 'iridescent' clouds with rainbow colors," he said. "We had a storm front coming our way from the west and this is what we saw on the leading edge. They say clouds have a silver lining ... but some actually have a rainbow lining!"
