New Milan Reservoir Named in Honor of Retiring U.S. Senator Roy Blunt

MILAN, MO – A unanimous vote of the North Central Missouri Regional Water Commission approved the naming of the East Locust Creek Reservoir in honor of retiring U.S. Senator Roy Blunt.

Construction of the Roy Blunt Reservoir north of Milan will begin next year, featuring 81 miles of shoreline. Upon completion the reservoir will produce 7 million gallons of water per day and serve 10 counties.

The Sullivan County Commission and the Water Commission received a letter from Governor Mike Parson asking them to consider naming the reservoir to honor Senator Blunt. Blunt’s efforts led to approximately $80 million in funding for construction of the reservoir.
