Tickets are available now for NWS Friends.
Tickets will be available to the public starting August 17.
This seasons authors:
September 21 at the City Opera House: Dr. Benjamin Gilmer, Author of The Other Dr. Gilmer
About the book:
Originally one of the most popular This American Life episodes of all time, The Other Dr. Gilmer is part true crime, part medical mystery and part quest for justice. Why is an ill and pardoned man still sitting in prison today? And how did he get there in the first place?
The Other Dr. Gilmer is a riveting and heart-wrenching journey through our shared human fallibility, made worse by a prison system that is failing our most vulnerable citizens.
Dr. Benjamin Gilmer takes the stage at the the City Opera House to talk about the book, the case and the book's transition to a forthcoming feature film.
September 29 at Lars Hockstad Auditorium: Fredrik Backman, Author of A Man Called Ove and The Winners
About the book:
First he rocketed onto the global stage with his international best-seller A Man Called Ove (soon to be a feature film with Tom Hanks in the title role).
Now, Fredrik Backman's "Beartown" series has captured the hearts and minds of readers everywhere. The tale of a small Canadian hockey town comes to a conclusion in his newest book: The Winners.
The long-awaited conclusion to this “engrossing” series (People)—which inspired an HBO series of the same name—follows the town’s residents as they grapple with change, pain, hope, and redemption.
Your in-person or livestream ticket for this event also comes with a signed copy of The Winners.
October 20th at the State Theater: Margo Price, Grammy-Nominated Musician and author of Maybe We'll Make It
About the book:
Musician Margo Price has climbed tooth and nail through the musical ranks, from busking the streets of Nashville to the stage of Carnegie Hall and the legendary Ryman Auditorium.
She's earned a spot on the board of Farm Aid alongside Willie Nelson and Neil Young, and she regularly plays shows in front of tens of thousands of fans.
But for one very special night, she'll sit down with just a few lucky fans and friends in Traverse City to talk about her new memoir: Maybe We'll Make It.
The story is equal parts Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and Janis Joplin; the whole thing is something you'll want to be present for as we have a unique conversation with a Midwest Farmer's Daughter.
