A local bridge that's been out of operation for years will be fixed.
State Representative Joseph Orgeron announced today that the Valentine Bridge will be repaired after money was allocated for the bridge by the recently passed Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which gave more than $63M to Louisiana.
Of that total, $2.6 million will go to repair the Valentine Bridge, which Rep. Orgeron said was a big win.
"Shortly after being sworn in, I asked DOTD and local engineers to meet me at the Valentine Bridge to produce an updated estimate to rehabilitate it back to a functioning bridge," Orgeron said. "This week, our Congressional delegation will be announcing that one of the five bridges in Louisiana to get some of the IIJ Act funds will be to the Valentine Bridge!"
U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-La) said the money Louisiana is getting will help the state in a big way.
“Our transportation infrastructure has suffered from neglect and lack of funding for decades,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Louisiana is seeing the benefits of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.”
