School board hears updates from schools

Staff from each of the five schools in the Weatherford Public Schools district presented a report for their respective school during Monday night’s Board of Education meeting.
Burcham Elementary Principal Brooke Brown Pre-K through 1st
• Student enrollment is at capacity
• Three new teachers
• Meet the Teacher event August 16
Lt. General Thomas P. Stafford Elementary Principal Brad Howl 2nd through 4th grade
• Enrollment currently is at 536
• Approximately 1,000 attendees at the open house August 3
• SWOSU football players will be helping to move furniture2:15 p.m. today.
• Meet the Teacher event August 16
East Intermediate Principal Meagan Merkey 5th through 6th grade
• Enrollment is currently at 351
• Open House and Meet the Teacher event August 16
• Moving into the new school in the fall
Weatherford Middle School Dean of Students Lindsey Mickley
7th through 8th grade
• Enrollment is currently at 340 Weatherford High School Principal Garrett Smith 9th through 12th grade
• Enrollment is currently at 648, up from last year by approximately 60 students
• Already kicking off activities for athletics, band, etc.
• Adding new programs, such as aeronautics and broadcasting
