Panchito's may have the best cheese enchiladas in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO - Today I'm taking you to one of my all-time favorite neighborhood Mexican food places, Panchito's Mexican Restaurant on McCullough. Now I know everybody has their own favorite local Mexican food place. We all do.

One of the things I love, and I will go there again and again for, is the enchiladas. I get the cheese enchiladas and I send them back if the cheese is not rolling and oozing all over the plate. And they put onions on top - thank you very much! Absolutely delicious.

The frijoles a la charra are supreme. So good! Sometimes I get some just to bring home and I'll have them with cheddar cheese or something for dinner later in the week. So good.

Also, you cannot, CANNOT beat the tortillas here. They will blow your mind. They are freshly made corn and flour. But make sure you ask for the freshly made corn because they also have the package kind they use to roll their tortillas for their enchiladas. The homemade are out of this world.

Another thing that I get there that has never failed me is the caldo. They have two types. They’ve got the beef and they have the chicken. I love both of them, but I usually get the chicken because for me it's easier to eat. And I get a chance to take home a lot of that for the next night's meal.

You're going to love Panchito’s. The service is warm and welcoming. The food is so good. And really one of my all-time favorite San Antonio haunts.
