Advance placement (AP) scores show Batesville High School Charter students rank above the average Arkansas student and global student in many AP categories.

For instance, in AP Calculus, the average BHSC student had a score of 4.5 out of 5. On this year’s exam, six Batesville students out of 10 who took the exam scored a perfect 5 out of 5.

In Arkansas, the average score was 2.5 out of 5, and globally, the average was 2.91 out of 5. In terms of pass rate, BHS had 100% of students pass the exam. Comparatively, 43.3% of Arkansas students and 55.6% of global students passed the exam.

Another example: in AP Algebra 2, the BHS average score was 3.0. The Arkansas average score was 2.13 while globally, the average (mean) score was 2.87.

As far as a passing score in Algebra 2, 67% of BHS students passed, whereas only 35% of students in Arkansas that took the exam earned a passing score.

In AP Language, the average score was 4.0 for BHS students, 2.28 for Arkansas students, and a 2.83 score for global students.
In AP Chemistry, the average score was 3.33 for BHS students, 1.95 for Arkansas students, and 2.69 for global students.

In AP Spanish, the BHSC average score was 3.33, the Arkansas student average was 3.24, and the global student average score was 3.5.

In AP Biology, the BHS average score was 2.73, the Arkansas student average score was 2.39, and the global students averaged a score of 3.11.

In AP History, the Arkansas student average score was 1.9, and the Batesville average score was 2.82.

And in AP Music, the Arkansas average score was 2.41, the global average score 3.01, and the BHS average score was 5.0.

The main reason for advance placement exams is to demonstrate mastery of rigorous college-level material. By scoring a passing grade, one can earn college credit at the majority of colleges and universities in the U. S. and Canada. Students can score a 1,2,3,4, or 5 on an AP exam, and a 3 is considered passing. A student usually begins taking AP classes in the tenth grade.

As a result of the outstanding scoring on the AP test, the Batesville School Board recognized the students for their AP test scores at a recent meeting.

“The Batesville School District is so fortunate to have such talented and hardworking students, but the teachers are the real stars of this story,” said Megan Renihan, the district’s communication coordinator. “They devote their lives to preparing the brightest minds in our district for their futures in both college and career opportunities. The results of these scores are a true testament to our ‘Students First’ motto.”
