What this game means: Amarillo drops to 48-55 on the season with the series opening loss to Springfield at HODGETOWN. The Sod Poodles fell behind 5-0, rallied within one, fell behind again and then tied the game. But the Cardinals got the win in the end thanks to a pair of runs in the ninth.

Tuesday's highlights: After falling behind 5-0 entering the bottom of the third inning, Amarillo broke out. Tim Tawa was walked with the bases loaded to score Leandro Cedeno before Juan Centeno's three-run RBI double scored Tawa, Eduardo Diaz and Roby Enriquez to make it 5-4. Springfield managed to extend their lead to 9-4 before Amarillo rallied again in the seventh. A home run by Enriquez scored Cedeno, Diaz and himself before Drew Stankiewicz's RBI double scored Tawa and Ceteno to tie it up. Springfield's two runs in the ninth gave them the win.

Friday's stars: Centeno continued his impressive season, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run on the night. Enriquez had a good night as well, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. It was a rough night for the pitching staff, but Andrew Saalfrank had a nice relief outing, striking out two in one inning.

Up next: The Soddies and Cards continue their series with a game each night this week at HODGETOWN.
