Diners will feel like they’ve touched down in Italy at a new restaurant due to open later this year in Cumberland County.
Luna Italian Cuisine is joining Legacy Park mixed-use development in Mechanicsburg with authentic Italian dishes, house-made wine and an expansive special event space.
The restaurant joins Wolf Brewing Company at the 185-acre project on Route 114 under development by Landmark Homes. Areas of the development are divided into single-family homes in Wright’s Landing, the townhomes of Madison Court and the retail area of Market Square.
Down to Earth Cafe and Premier Martial Arts are also opening at the complex.
Vito Serradella, owner of Vito’s Italian Restaurant in Lower Allen Township and Vito’s Pizza in Upper Allen Township, is heading the 250-seat Luna, an establishment he says will not be like anything else in the area.
“It’s a nice, fine dining restaurant,” he said. “There’s no pizza, there’s no subs.”
Luna’s menu will focus on steaks, seafood and Italian dishes and diners will be able to pick whole fish and steak cuts from a display. Live trees will decorate the dining room, creating what Serradella describes as a romantic atmosphere.
“It’s going to be beautiful. During the wintertime you will go in there and feel like it’s a nice summertime day,” he said.
Serradella has worked around the world and apprenticed at four-star restaurants in Germany, France and Scotland where he expanded his culinary skills. In 2017, he opened the Lower Allen Township Vito’s with a little bit of everything including pizza, subs and Italian entrees and specials.
Later on, he bought a winery license and started to produce a line of wine served at the restaurant. Luna will carry the same wines as well as Pennsylvania beers and spirits.
Serradella also operated restaurants in York and South Middleton Township and in 2021 opened Vito’s Pizza at the former Brother’s Pizza & Restaurant at 265 Cumberland Parkway.
This time around, Serradella said he’s fulfilling his dream to build a restaurant from the ground up. The Legacy development is the perfect site he noted because so many people moving into the area from New Jersey and New York are looking for finer dining establishments.
Luna will be open seven days a week for dinner.
