Hinton beats Hydro-Eakly in season opener, 2-0

HINTON — Hinton kept Hydro-Eakly off the scoreboard in Monday’s season opener, beating the Lady Bobcats 2-0.

The Lady Comets scored a run in the bottom of the first on a home run over the wall in center field.

Hydro-Eakly scattered four hits in the game, including two in the top of the fourth inning. Tessa York singled to center field and Dillyn Coe singled to right field. Neither were able to score in the inning.

Hinton added a run in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI double to center field, giving the Lady Comets a 2-0 lead.

The other two hits for Hydro-Eakly were in the top of the first on a single to center field by Katey Buss and a single to left field by Emily Sublett in the top of the seventh. Hydro-Eakly also had baserunners in the top of the fifth when Kiersten Warner reached base on an error and top of the sixth inning when York walked. None of those baserunners made it around to score a run in the game.
